Thoughts on Market Activity
The market certainly is interesting. The markets rallied hard in October. The Dow was up almost 15% with Nasdaq up a mere 4.4%. I was not up 14% this month. I expect that market to do things in November that I will not be able to predict. lol
What I’m Reading
I finished Life Is In The Transitions by Bruce Feller. It really was interesting to hear so many different stories. I don’t know about you, but as I get older I am really curious about other people’s struggles and triumphs. This book reminded me that everyone goes through hard times and quantified the frequency. It costs you nothing to be kind, so might as well be kind to others.
Just started How to Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie.
Podcasts I Enjoyed
The Unintended Consequences of Working from Home on Freakonomics
This is interesting given the post pandemic world we live in. I have a feeling things will change less than most expect.
Paul Orfalea on Invest Like the Best
Really interesting interview. I found Paul’s leadership style and candidness refreshing. I’m going to put his book on my list to read.
Scott Willis on ValueHive podcast
This was an excellent podcast. I really enjoyed the pragmatic approach to commodities. With the return of interest in commodity companies I see lost of charts being posted on twitter. Most of these charts really just tell us why the price is higher not really where it’s going. At least that’s my opinion.
Other News
Lots of earning reports coming up this week. It will be good to get some updates and see how these businesses perform with heightened inflation.
